Castello della MIsericordia was sold then to Pisa Republic by Ilebrando from Sovana. In 1406 it submitted to Florence, along with other villages of Pisan countryside. It remained under Medici then, that enriched its features as results until today.

In 1860 it passed briefly under Sardinia Reign before unification  of Italy took over.

By the beginning of XiX century a big alabaster Quarry was established
